Address: Dulwich Village, South East London
Client: Southwark Council
Project Value: £700,000
Project Started: 27.07.2009
Contract Period: 20 weeks
This £700,000 contract at a prominent South East London Junior school comprised alterations of an existing Victorian building to improve the kitchen and dining room facilities. The first floor gym was converted into a multi-functional classroom area, which is accessed by a modern staircase with a resin based floor system to accommodate high traffic in these areas.
We started the demolition phase of the project during the school summer holidays to minimise general disturbance. The site was secured and closely monitored when term began. During the 20 week contract, we liaised extensively with the Head Teacher and premises manager to ensure that our work didn’t impact on the day-to-day running of the school.
The oak floor dining room has multi-purpose usage as it was fitted out with collapsible wheeled furniture. It provided the venue for the opening party of the new wing, hosted by local parents Jo Brand and James Nesbitt.
